Muhannad Al Quaisy, Bethlehem

Muhannad, coordinates olive tree planting programs for the JAI (Joint Advocacy Initiative) in Beit Sahour, just outside of Bethlehem. He leads groups of internationals throughout the West Bank to help them understand what life is like for farmers and all Palestinians living in the Occupied Territories. His work and the work of this organization is invaluable. When Internationals plant trees with olive tree farmers they plant approximately 1600 trees over a ten day period. The presence of internationals assists the farmers not only through the planting of trees themselves but also by being witness to the difficulties they have with the Israeli Military and the settlers. It raises awareness and activism, which they often take back when they return to their home countries. International presence also helps to reduce the harassment Palestinian farmers can face during planting and olive harvesting.
